HR Generalist – East Africa Job in Kenya

Summary

Our client is a wholly owned Kenyan subsidiary of the world’s leading manufacturer of lines for filling beverages in plastic and glass bottles or beverage cans. The company was incorporated in Kenya in 2008 and operates in Nairobi servicing not only East Africa, but also the Horn of Africa countries such as Somalia, Ethiopia, Eritrea, the Great Lakes countries of Rwanda and Burundi, as well as Sudan and the DRC. The Kenyan office is the Service Centre for Bottling and Packaging Equipment and Machinery, and serves the beverage industry.
Reporting to the General Manager East Africa, the position holder will effectively administer and maintain the Human Resources functions within East Africa Ltd ensuring that all Human Resources policies, procedures and practices are in line with best practice and comply with current legislation and offer support and advice to the Company’s Management Team.

Key Responsibilities:
    Ensure HR practices are in line with legislation and best practice, and are updated in line with changes in legislation.
    Update, maintain and implement the Company policies and procedures required by and in line with legislation, HR best practice in consultation with Management.
    Support and administer Recruitment and Selection. Work with the Head of Departments to ensure the recruitment and probation period is executed in line with best practice.
    Conduct negotiations within in a non-unionized environment and deal proactively with labor related issues with the assistance of Management. Adhere to and implement sound Industrial Relations.
    Support Head of Departments in managing their staff in line with HR best practice.
    Work closely with the Head of Departments to ensure Health and Safety is compliant with legislation and best practice.
    Support Organizational Development Initiatives within business areas. Work closely with other internal staff members in providing training programmes that are appropriate to the role.
    Act as Skills Development Facilitator within and maintain all supporting functions.
    Training and Development, keeping record of training undertaken.
    Monthly salaries processing; prepare and submit all statutory returns.
    Administration and facilitation of the Performance Development Program (PDP).
    Maintain and administer the company’s Medical Aid benefit scheme.
    Administration of personnel records, statistics and staff information.

Qualification:
    Knowledge of Kenya’s labour legislations and institutions
    Bachelors Degree in Human Resource Management
    Approximately 5 years working experience in HR department
    Ability to work as part of a team and independently
    Ability to facilitate problems and offer or guide solutions
    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    Ability to compile accurate and clear reports
    Ability to bring projects to completion within a given time frame and prioritize competing demands
    VIP Payroll/Pastel
    Good command of English. German language is an added advantage
    Ability to interact professionally at all levels of the business
   Able to travel into Africa is preferred
