Job purpose
To undertake the planning, development and delivery of CREAW internal and external
communications, including website and intranet, partner communications and publications, in liaison with other Communications staff; to contribute to wider policy and communications and CREAW work programs.
Key roles and responsibilities
1. Develop and maintain CREAW communication strategy and budget plan, and with the support of the management team, develop and implement communication plans for various CREAW programs;
2. Co-ordinate the production of internal and external CREAW communications, publications and materials, in consultation with other CREAW staff;
3. Giving communication advice including the development of relevant messages, use of appropriate media channels and providing strategic solutions to communications challenges;
4. Producing compelling news stories/press releases, internal newsletters, media briefs, training documents, presentation materials and other communications products;
5. Providing technical advice and support for communication training to staff members;
6. Coordinate production of Information Education and Communication materials (IEC), and publications;
7. Liaise with design and printing companies, graphic designers and other service providers to produce high quality documents and publications;
8. Provide editorial support to colleagues, specifically for:
a. Selected articles, proposals and case studies;
b. Presentations and training modules.
9. Enhance CREAW’s public image through strategic communications including developing and cultivating strong media relationships with local, mainstream and international media;
10. Participate in communications planning and briefing, including press conferences and media interviews;
11. Prepare annual report, in consultation with the management team and line program officer(s), develop the report structure and liaise with external contractors to design, edit, print and disseminate.
12. Coordinate inter and intra program communication to facilitate access to information on core program activities, status, output, achievements and challenges;
13. Manage a vibrant intranet site for staff members;
14. Provide ongoing coordination of CREAW website, including preparing and updating content, review content requests , and coordinating updates with CREAW’s webmaster;
15. Manage and catalogue CREAWs database of pictures and coordinate updates when required, use of pictures, obtaining parental approvals and filling of pictures on shared drive and maintaining media files, maintains files from CREAW’s presentations;
16. Coordinate production of organizational communication tools including staff business cards , letterheads and notepads ;
17. Perform any other duties as requested, in the interest of the organization.
Academic qualifications, experience, skills and personal attributes
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in communication or other relevant area of study with proven experience in public relations, publicity, and media relations journalism.
Masters degree will be an absolute advantage.
At least three years of relevant working experience, preferably in a women’s rights related organization in a similar position.
Technical training in project management will be an added advantage.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of programs and design programs.
Demonstrable experience in publishing, website and communication product development and design.
Working experience in project management and organizational skills
Must be fluent in spoken and written English and Kiswahili.
Visionary, with strong initiative and ability to work without supervision.
Excellent oral, presentation and written communication skills.
Personal commitment to work as reliable, honest and trustworthy team member.
Good judgement, tact, analytical and negotiation skills.
Ability to contribute to the overall objectives, mission and goals of CREAW operations.
Must be able to work comfortably and effectively with people of different national and cultural backgrounds and to establish and maintain constructive working relations in multi –cultural environment.

The Association of Professional Societies in East Africa (APSEA) is the umbrella body of professional associations and societies in Kenya, with a corporate membership of thirty (30) professional associations from diverse professional disciplines. The corporate member associations have a total membership of nearly 50,000 individual professionals in Kenya alone. As such, as the umbrella body of all professionals in Kenya, APSEA has developed a database of professionals.
The current position entails the marketing and overall running of the APSEA Database of Professionals and other related APSEA websites. The database gives the profiles of all registered professionals in
Kenya. It shall act as a resource through which the public can obtain the career profiles and biodata of professionals and potential public office candidates for the purpose of enhancing accountability amongst professionals. It will also serve as a source of profiles for recruitment agencies to enable them link employers with prospective employees. Professionalism underpins the Constitution of Kenya and several public office positions shall be held by professionals including those of Cabinet Secretaries therefore the public needs a database through which they are able to gauge nominees/ potential candidates to public office.
2. Objectives:
The objectives of this Database of Professionals are as follows:
1) To enhance professional ethics and integrity by allowing the public access to the profiles of potential candidates to public office.
2) To provide a resource and roof under which all registered professionals are listed for public information purposes.
The following are among the specific duties that shall be required of the IT Assistant:
- To market the database to registered professionals in Kenya to attain a target of a total of 1,500 professionals within 1 year
- To make updates on the professional’s database, the APSEA website, and the reforms website through uploading articles, photos of events, reports among others and that new changes/ updates that are required to be made are done on a regular basis.
- To develop the database into an income generating tool through various methods such as attracting advertisers, database membership subscriptions, etc
- To run and maintain the database and website and ensure it is running smoothly on a day to day basis and that any errors/ malfunctions are detected and rectified in time
- To create partnerships with professional associations so as to liaise with them in enabling their membership to register on the database so as to generate higher registration
- To create partnerships with organizations and businesses such as Safaricom, Capital FM Jobs, etc.
3. Qualifications
- The IT assistant will have the following basic qualifications:
- A Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Computer Science and/ or IT.
- Experience in E- Commerce and E-Marketing
- At least 1 years experience in application development
- Extremely sharp with database design, development, SQL/MS SQL Server development, tuning and admin
- Experience supporting production database, app and web servers
- Solid knowledge of Java/JSP/J2EE development, reporting and database integration
- Experience in an e-commerce/Internet environment
- Demonstrated ability to design, plan, and execute
- Highly developed oral and written communications skills
- Be willing to carry out any other duties as may be directed by the Executive Officer or Officers of Council

KENET is therefore seeking to fill the following positions:
NETWORK ENGINEER
1 Position
This position reports to the Head of Infrastructure and will join the team with the responsibility for design, implementation and maintenance of the broadband KENETIP network that connects member institutions. The candidate must be capable of working to accomplish both short term and long-term goals.
Suitable candidates will be expected to have the following qualifications and experience:
- An undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from a recognized university with advanced knowledge in networking.
- Network certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCIP or CCNP, CCIE) or advanced networking degree will be an added advantage
- At least three years’ experience as a network engineer or equivalent in an organization with a large IP network, ISP or telecom operator.
- Good background understanding and knowledge of network management software systems and their interaction/integration with network elements
- Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English language
- Ability to work with limited supervision
- Demonstrated high ethical and moral standards
This position shall be on contract terms of three (3) years which shall be renewable based on performance.

GRADUATE TRAINEES
5 Positions
KENET invites suitable recent university graduates to apply for a new one-year Graduate Trainee program at KENET that aims to develop high-end ICT talent in the areas of network applications, operations and engineering. Successful candidates will be required to undergo an intensive one-year on the job training in ICT Infrastructure operation and management for a period of 12 months.
Applicants must be degree holders from recognised universities in the following fields
- B.Sc. in Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering
- B.Sc. in Computer Science or Information systems

The East African Wild Life Society (EAWLS) is a membership organization that was founded in 1961 when the Wildlife Societies of Tanzania and Kenya – both founded in 1956 – together with Ugandan wildlife enthusiasts joined hands. EAWLS has been at the forefront in the efforts for protecting endangered, rare or threatened species and habitats in East Africa. EAWLS hosts the secretariats of the Kenya Forests Working Group (KFWG), the Kenya Wetland Forum (KWF) and the Kenya Wildlife Conservation Forum (KWCF) and is involved in the implementation of field based projects that include conservation of marine resources. Through the financial support of the Government of Sweden/DFID under Act!’s (formerly Pact Kenya) Natural Resources (Changieni Rasili Mali) Facility for Non State Actors, EAWLS is implementing a project that aims at strengthening Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and private sector county government legislative engagement process through formation of “County CSOs/Private Sector Natural Resources Management Networks”.
This project is being piloted in four counties namely: Kwale in Coast Province, Laikipia, Samburu and Nakuru in Central and northern Kenya. Under this project, EAWLS wishes to recruit a project coordinator and a project officer to implement this project.
PROJECT OFFICER
Duty Station:
Nairobi with extensive travel to the 4 counties
Specific Responsibilities:
Under the guidance and supervision of the project coordinator, the project officer will:
- Identify who the key players in natural resource management at the 4 counties are; what their roles and obligations are; how they are fulfilling their various roles and obligations; and what their engagements and partnerships are.
- Identify conservation issues at the 4 counties and the specific needs of counties and how these needs can be fulfilled by formation of county CSOs/private sector networks.
- Publicize the vision, mission and activities of the 4 County CSOs/Private Sector Networks.
- Prepare all necessary information and agenda for meetings and workshops organised or envisaged in the project.
- Facilitate meetings of the 4 County CSOs/Private Sector Networks, workshops and exchange visits envisaged in the project.
- Provide technical supports in publications and in development of project materials (leaflets and policy briefs).
- Support the 4 County CSOs/Private Sector Networks to prioritize conservation issues, identify appropriate strategic means of intervention and alert them on opportunities.
- Provide a supportive role to 4 County CSOs/Private Sector Networks in formulation and analysis of national and county policies, strategies and laws, and in advocacy.
- Using lessons learnt from the project, scale up activities of the networks in the 4 counties and promote their replications in other counties.
- Assist the project coordinator in production of quarterly work plans, progress reports and budgets.
Qualifications, Experience, Skills and attributes
- A Degree in Natural Resource Management (NRM).
- Over 3 years experience in NRM.
- Experience in working with the private sector, donors, non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations, as well as public sector.
- Knowledgeable in local and national NRM and environment matters.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
- Good public relations and communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills in various computer packages (Ms. Word, Excel and Power Point).
- Good organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
The initial assignment for the two positions is two years with potential extension depending on availability of funds and satisfactory performance.
